Aloha! From Our House to a good friend and a very fine family, Susan Cardenas-Water Color Artist
Susan's career in art started while painting miniatures on fine jewelry in 1979, where she learned much about composition and color, as well as an ability to paint very tiny. In 1981, she studied oil painting under local artist Stan Yamauchi. she went back to school to earn a degree in graphic arts in 1984 and soon after worked as a graphic artist at a local newspaper, the Midweek. Finally in 1998, she realized that fine art was her passion and pursued her dreams to make it a full time career. Most of her watercolors techniques are self taught.
Born in Okinawa and raised in Kaneohe, Oahu, Susan grew up between the majestic beauty of the Koolaus and the picturesque serenity of Kaneohe Bay. In spite of it, she hardly noticed them during the many years of failed attempts to fill that void only God can fill. Then in 1983, she became a born believer in Christ and today, her work reflects her appreciation of God's gifts to us, the beautiful flowers, plants, and scenery of Hawaii.
