The Memorial spans remains of the battleship without touching any part of the ship which sunk on December 7 1941. Architect Alfres Preis designed the structure to sag in the center but stand strong at the ends, there by expressing initial defeat & ultimate victory PLEASE NOTE: This is this original Hawaii store custom piece. Missouri is the last Battleship Built by the U.S. On Sept,2 1945 the Missouri was the spot for the signing of the surrender by Japan ending WW11. From 1950 to 1953 she participated in bombardments off the coast of Korea before being "mothballed" in 1955. Re-commissioned in 1986 to support Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf. Mothballed again & finally towed to Pearl Harbor June 22, 1998 to join the U.S.S. Arizona marking the beginning & ending of WW11.
